This week's video is something special because I traveled to TWO countries over Thanksgiving break, and finally got to have a proper girls trip!! I'm going to try not to write that much for this blog since I am currently in the process of packing up my room AND I still have 2 more vlogs to make...
But anyways, Bianca, Grace, Cara and I got on a bus to Belgrade once our break started, and 6 hours and 2 customs offices later, we were in Serbia! And the city was really much nicer than I could have imagined, it had a really nice shopping street, lots of castles, and really gorgeous Orthodox churches (which is rare to find amongst the Catholic Churches in Europe). We all just had a good time exploring the city and goofing around and taking our mind off everything else that was going on in Budapest, which was much needed. There was so much to see in the city that it kept us occupied and always on the move!
Cara decided to leave the trip early to go back to Budapest and work on some homework, including graph theory, which I know way too much about thanks to my guys Shayar and Eashu. It was sad that she left, but I'm happy she was able to do what made her feel the most at peace, and we had such a fun time in Serbia with her, so I am very grateful for that!! The roomies and I hopped on a bus to Zagreb, Croatia after parting ways with Cara, and the ride wasn't too bad at all. We arrived in Croatia and got Dominos for dinner and just relaxed and caught up on sleep for the night which was very nice.
The next morning, we tackled the city! It was the day the Christmas markets opened which was perfect timing (and Zagreb was voted best Christmas market in Europe 3 years in a row)!! Grace and I were innovative and used the ribbons holding the towels together in our Airbnb to make our outfits more unique hehe. Zagreb didn't have just one big Christmas market... the entire city was a Christmas market which was really beautiful and there was so much to see! The mulled wine was great and the Christmas tunes were amazing :) we then went to the museum of broken relationships since it's top rated on TripAdvisor, and it might've been a mistake because it emotionally broke Grace and I. But it was cool nonetheless. We then went back to our Airbnb before going out to a pub to watch the Argentina Mexico game, which SHAYAR AND EASHU WERE AT!! I was obnoxious and told everyone about that, but it was a good game, we had good food, and we got to see another area of the city!
The next day we ventured to this very nice park in the city, and spent a few hours there just hiking and goofing off and exploring all that nature had to offer. It was stunning, especially all the water features!! After that, we grabbed food back in the main city center and then Bianca and I went ice skating! It had been a while since I had last gone so I was a little scared in the beginning, but it was so fun and beautiful and the ice rink was massive and I loved it. We then hopped on our bus to take us back home to Corvin plaza haha.
This trip was really great, and I am so grateful I got to share it with my roomies. Since we live together, it can be hard to go out and go on adventures because I am usually exhausted and when I'm home I just want to sleep. BUT we got to make amazing memories this trip and explore more of Eastern Europe, and I am so grateful for that. I am so happy Cara also got to join us in Serbia because we all just had a really great time chatting about life and forgetting about the math we left behind in Budapest. Grace and Bianca were seriously the best roommates I could have asked for this semester, and getting to have a girls trip was a goal I wanted to accomplish this semester, so I got to do it with the best company!! I am going to miss them so so much, but we will definitely be having roomie girls trip reunions back in the States, which I'm already looking forward to.
Alright, one more blog post after this and then my time in Budapest comes to a close! It's gonna be a double feature since I'll have 2 videos: Shayar and I's trip to Vienna and finals in Budapest. Until then!!
