Oktoberfest: Once in a lifetime experience because I won't be doing it again

To quote one of the besties Troy: "Oktoberfest was a weekend of full throttle heinosity."

I am still in disbelief that I traveled to Munich and went to Oktoberfest, like the same Oktoberfest that I've seen on TV shows growing up. I am certainly elated that I went because it's something to check off my bucket list, and who knows the next time I'll be in Europe for Oktoberfest! That being said, sleeping in tents (although they were cheap) in the cold rain was far from ideal and took a physical and mental toll on me. I guess if I do ever decide to go back, I'll know I made it when I can stay in a hotel with a real bed!

Oktoberfest was sooo different than I expected. I expected a couple stalls selling beer and lots of space to run around but it was pure sensory overload. It was like the county fair but on steroids. The view from the ferris wheel and the swings were unmatched! There was so much to do and so much beer to try, I rarely knew which direction to go in. And how can we forget about the dirndl?! The traditional German attire for Oktoberfest that became the clothes I loved in ALL weekend (yeah, I was roughing it). I was the only one in the group who committed to the outfit for both days, but are we really surprised by that?

The beer halls were MASSIVE and so elaborate: it truly felt like a fever dream of a place. The music from the live bands really got everyone in a good spirit, and when they played ABBA I lost my mind because if you know me, you know how much I love to dance to ABBA. And I'm so lucky I had my favorite dance partner next to me! If there's one thing Shayar and I know how to do, it's to have a good time anywhere and dance like nobody is watching! Shayar has become my adventurous travel buddy and I'm glad we got to knock Germany off our list of places to go! (stay tuned for my Greece vlog, it was surreal)

I feel like anything I say won't compare to what's in the video, since Oktoberfest was so much about the environment for me. So, you can have the pleasure of seeing Okky through my eyes! Overall, I would give the experience a 10/10 because it was a once in a lifetime event and I'm so glad I am able to say I went to the Oktoberfest in Munich! So extremely grateful (once again) to be given the opportunity to be in Europe, travel around, and learn some really difficult math along the way! Hopefully my homework chills out and I can be more on top of posting hehe.

xoxo, Mackenzie

An Ode to Advanced Mathematics

Wow... the math has only seemed to get harder as the semester has gone on. I thought after midterms I would have a break until finals,...
